Who We Are...

The Lehigh County Humane Society (LCHS) is an independent, non-profit, accredited animal protection agency. Since its incorporation with the Commonwealth of PA in 1906, the Humane Society has been unwavering in its commitment to thousands of homeless, needy animals and to our community. A volunteer Board of Directors governs the work of the Humane Society. An Executive Director oversees the operation of the Dixon Street Shelter.

What We Believe...

The LCHS believes that all life is valuable and deserves respect. Our hope is that through ongoing education on the plight of animals, citizens will become more responsible pet owners which will result in fewer incidents of abandoned and abused animals.

How We Are Funded...

The LCHS is NOT an arm of Lehigh County. Our operating revenues come from donations, fees, fund-raising events and private bequests. We do not recieve operational revenue from any municipal government. Although the LCHS is not chartered to do animal control, it does provide this service, on a contractual basis.
